The tree produces a yellow, brownish, reddish or purplish fruit that tastes delicious. Other parts of the tree have traditionally been used as medicine. Pink ivory was the royal tree of the Zulu people. Before the Anglo-Zulu War, the Zulu king wore jewelry made of pink ivory, and rumor has it that non-royal people who owned this tree were sentenced to death.

WHERE DOES THE PINK IVORY TREE GROW?

It grows mainly in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Northern Botswana and South Africa. Although native to South Africa, the tree is rare on its continent. This is why it is said to have been hoarded by wealthy families in Africa.
